Privacy Policy for Anesthesia Handbook
Effective Date: November 21, 2025
We at Anesthesia Handbook (“we,” “us,” or “our”) are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile application (“the App”), which now includes integration with Google Sign-In, Firebase Authentication, and Firebase Analytics.
1. Information We Collect Link to heading
When you use the App, we (or our third-party service providers) may collect the following categories of information:
a) Information You Provide Directly Link to heading
- Google account information (when you choose to sign in with Google):
- Full name
- Email address
- Google profile picture (optional)
- Google user ID
- Firebase Authentication identifier (a unique, anonymized ID linked to your login method)
b) Automatically Collected Information (Firebase Analytics) Link to heading
Even if you do not sign in, we anonymously collect usage data via Firebase Analytics, including:
- Device information (device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers)
- App usage data (screen views, button taps, session duration, feature usage)
- Approximate location (derived from IP address – city/country level only)
- Crash and performance logs
- Language and timezone settings
All Firebase Analytics data is anonymized or pseudonymized. We do not receive data that directly identifies you unless you are signed in.
c) Local Data (Still Fully Private) Link to heading
As before, all patient inputs, custom drug concentrations, and clinical calculations remain 100% local on your device and are never uploaded or shared.

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, or profiling.
3. Sharing of Information Link to heading
We share data only in these limited cases:

Firebase services are operated by Google and are subject to Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
4. Data Retention Link to heading
- Signed-in account data (email, name, Firebase Auth ID): Retained as long as you keep your account or until you delete it.
- Anonymous analytics data: Retained by Firebase for up to 14 months (standard Firebase retention).
- Local clinical data: Stored only on your device until you delete the app or clear app data.
5. Your Rights and Choices Link to heading
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access, correct, or delete your Google/Firestore-linked account data
- Opt out of analytics collection (see section 6)
- Request deletion of your data (contact us at the email below)
- Withdraw consent (where applicable) at any time

6. Opting Out of Analytics Link to heading
You can disable Firebase Analytics collection at any time:
- Open the App
- Go to Settings → Privacy
- Toggle off “Allow anonymous usage analytics”
Alternatively, you can disable analytics globally on your device via Android/iOS privacy settings for this app.
7. Children’s Privacy Link to heading
The App is intended for use by licensed healthcare professionals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your region). If we learn such data has been collected, we will delete it immediately.
8. Security Link to heading
We implement industry-standard security measures (including encryption in transit via HTTPS) to protect data handled by Firebase services. Local data on your device remains unencrypted but never leaves the device.
9. International Data Transfers Link to heading
Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where Google operates. These transfers are protected under Google’s EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certification and Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Changes to This Policy Link to heading
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the app and on our GitHub repository. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
